Buying prescription eyeglasses online?
I had thought about trying that seemingly more affordable option for years, but honestly, was a bit intimidated by the process. I was also unsure about buying glasses without trying them on first.
Seemed risky.
But when GlassesShop reached out to us to give them a try, it was an offer we couldn’t refuse. This was our chance to try out online glasses shopping and put our fears to rest once and for all.
After all, if this worked out, it would be a game changer.
At these affordable prices, I could buy multiple pairs in different styles and fun colors, rather than having to choose just one style to be stuck with until it was absolutely necessary to foot the bill for a new pair.
Since our prescription sunglasses were on their last (and I mean REALLY LAST) legs, we decided to try those. We were also planning a beach vacation, so the timing couldn’t be more perfect.

GlassesShop Review
First of all, our sunglasses arrived quickly and looked great (*cue sigh of relief.)
My hubby got the Walnut Aviator style and I got Bernardino.

Throughout our trip, we wore our GlassesShop glasses everywhere—from sightseeing to beach walks—and they were stylish, comfortable, and durable.
What Is GlassesShop?
Glasses Shop is an online company that specializes in prescription glasses and sunglasses at a fraction of the price you’d pay in a traditional optical store. They carry a wide variety of frames, including trendy styles, classic looks, and even blue light blocking options for people who spend a lot of time on screens.
Some quick highlights:
- Affordable pricing
- Wide range of frame styles and colors
- Prescription upload and easy online ordering
- Frequent sales and discount codes
- International shipping
For us, the combination of style, convenience, and affordability made Glasses Shop a no-brainer to try before our trip.
Ordering Experience
The ordering process was fairly simple. Here’s how it worked for us:
- Browse frames – The site has filters for shape, material, and color, which made it easy to find styles we liked (well, easy for my hubby, but not so easy for me, since there were so many to choose from!) They also include the frame measurements so that you can compare them to a pair you already have that work well on your face. You can also upload a photo of yourself so you can get a rough idea of what they will look like on. Not sure what style is best for your face shape? Check out their handy face-shape detector HERE!
- Try up to 5 frames on at home for 7 days – I really like this feature, because honestly, AI try-on is just not the same as trying frames on in person. They make it easy to return the sample frames with a pre-paid return shipping label.
- Upload prescription – We just typed in our prescriptions and uploaded a copy from our eye doctor. I recommend asking your doctor to include pupillary distance on the Rx, which is not normally included. You can also measure this yourself if you have to.
- Add lens options – You can choose from standard lenses, anti-glare, blue light, photochromic, and sunglasses lenses.
- Checkout – Payment was quick and secure.
Shipping was faster than expected, too. Our glasses arrived well-packaged, with protective cases and cleaning cloths.

Comfort & Fit
We wore our new eyeglasses almost nonstop during our vacation—driving, sightseeing, and walking on the beach. They were lightweight and comfortable.
Pricing & Value
This is where GlassesShop really shines.
Both pairs of our glasses were less than what ONE pair would cost at our local optical store (we got progressive lenses, which can be quite pricey!) With promotions and discounts, the savings were even better.
It’s easy to see why so many people are turning to online eyewear companies like this.

Pros & Cons
Here’s our quick list after wearing them for weeks:
✅ Pros
- Affordable prices
- Stylish frames with lots of variety
- Comfortable and lightweight
- Clear, high-quality lenses
- Convenient online ordering
- Frequent discounts and promotions
⚠️ Cons
- No in-person adjustments like you’d get at an optical store. This is the biggest thing I miss.
Final Thoughts: Would We Recommend GlassesShop?
Absolutely!
If you’re looking for affordable prescription glasses that don’t compromise on quality, we’d definitely recommend giving GlassesShop a try. Whether you need a backup pair, stylish sunglasses, or your everyday go-to glasses, this is a brand worth checking out.
