How To Use Leather Hair Barrettes With Sticks

Leather hair stick barrettes are more comfortable than most clips, and can give you a more secure hold...but how exactly do you use them in your hair? 

Don't worry, it's actually a lot easier to use hair barrettes with sticks than it looks. 

Pull your hair back into your desired style, then hold the barrette over where you want it sit. Next, push the stick through one of the holes in the barrette, and slide it under your hair and along your scalp before pushing the stick back up through the hole on the opposite side of the barrette.

The pressure between the stick and the barrette holds your hair in place for a snug, comfortable hold.

1. Pull the hair back or twist it from either side of your head, and bring the two sides together
2. Wrap the leather Barrette over the hair you are holding together
3. Take a stick and put it in one side of the barrette
4. Turn the stick toward the opposite side and slide the stick along the scalp
5. Come out the other side, catching the stick on the barrette

1. Pull Or Twist The Hair Back

Pull or twist the hair back from the sides of the head and bring them together. 

2. Wrap The Leather Barrette Over The Hair

Take your leather barrette, or what my favorite hair accessory company calls a "Leather 8", and wrap it around the hair that you were holding in place. 

3. Take A Stick And Put It In One Side Of The Barrette

Take a stick and go in on one side, and push it under the hair. 

4. Turn The Stick Toward The Opposite Side and Slide Along The Scalp

Then move along the scalp with the stick until you come out the other side. 

5. Come out the other side, catching the stick on the barrette

Once the stick comes out the other side, just make sure you catch it on the leather barrette and you are done!

How do you keep clips from falling out of your hair?

Having hair that continually slips out of place can be incredibly annoying. 

The reality is that some hair clips just don't grip hair as well as they should. The result is ruined hairstyles and frustration. 

I've found that there are two solutions to this problem. One is simple and takes no time at all, and the other takes a bit more work. 

The Harder Way

One thing you can do to keep your barrette from sliding out of your hair is place a bobby pin just underneath where you want the barrette to sit, as well as spraying hairspray on the hair and the barrette. 

After a minute or so, the barrette will become tacky enough to the point where it will stick in your hair and not fall out. 

I don't know about you, but this method seems a little messy.
